Fun with Photos

Oh boy, did we have fun on Monday. We stopped at the park for a little ball field exercise and to snap some photos. As we were viewing the photos we realized that the hounds resembled some familiar animals in the wild... can you see the resemblance?

Other photos from our day.

And did you know that February is National Pet Dental Health Month? Our vet offers a discount on dentals during February, so Harvey had his annual dental today.

Poor Harvey... he doesn't play with toys, doesn't like bones of any sort, and doesn't tolerate tooth brushing (Jackson does all of the above, and does so with zest!). Needless to say, Harvey's teeth need extra attention (Jackson's are pearly white). Harvey breezed through the cleaning, and while he was sleeping he had a stress-free nail trim and vaccines to boot. Good Boy, Harvey!

See you next time!

Sunday Field Trip

Today we decided to check out two other Richmond area Battlefield Parks, Fort Hoke and Fort Brady. Both sites are near the James River, and served as fortifications in 1864. Fort Brady was used to keep Union boats bottled up north and anchored the Union line that extended to Fort Harrison.

While most of our walk was concentrated on viewing the defensive earthworks, we were treated to an encounter with a hawk and a hound dog. The hound dog was eager to protect his stomping grounds, so we made a hasty retreat in order to prevent a battle of a different sort.

Making our way to the Parks.

Our Visit to Drewry's Bluff

The weather this weekend was outstanding (again!), so we decided to visit one of the Richmond National Battlefield parks. Drewry's Bluff was the location of Fort Darling, which was used to defend the Port of Richmond from Union forces. It was also the site of the Confederate Naval Academy and the Confederate Marine Corps Camp of Instruction.

Some pictures from our day.

And remember Harvey's littermate Thai? Thai lives in Nova Scotia and was adopted in 2005 through the Greyhound Pets of Atlantic Canada. Thai's family sent a few photos from his "Hound Day", which is what we refer to as "Gotcha Day." Enjoy!

Football Anyone?

The weather on Super Bowl Sunday was beautiful, so we decided to take a ride out to the baseball fields to run in the sun. What a happy coincidence to find other Greyhounds there!

Harvey and Jackson had a blast running with girlfriends Jello, Cleo, and Salina. And although Jackson was slightly handicapped by his muzzle, he tried his best to play football with the new friend he made that day. Oh, and his new buddy? You'd never guess that he's a little JRT. Go figure!

Are we there yet?
